Southern Cross Engineering and Wilson Engineering
Systems Merger
I am pleased to advise
that Wilson Engineering Systems (WES) is merging with Southern Cross Engineering (SCE) from 1st March 2007.
SCE was founded in 1955, employs approximately 80 staff and has it headquarters in Christchurch New Zealand, with other operations in Queensland Australia.
Alex Wilson has agreed with SCE’s offer to merge because WES has reached a size and operating capacity where significant growth will be most logically made through partnership with another company. The current market and experience and evolution of the company to date suggest this is an appropriate time for WES to make that move. SCE is the ideal merger partner.
Under the new arrangement, Alex will remain at WES in the role of general manager, based in Auckland, with myself remaining as general manager of WES in Melbourne. I am looking forward to continuing this role, with the new advantage of greater critical mass promising a more substantial platform from which to service the customers who have generously supported WES in the past.
It is our intention to initially run the two businesses as separate organisations under the SCE group umbrella, except for some accounting, administration and commercial functions, which will be carried out in Christchurch. Any further change will be undertaken as and when we can identify where such integration will improve the service the group provides to customers.
The strengths the two companies bring to the merger will enable a complimentary approach that will provide added value to customers. WES is strong in green mill, design and marketing, SCE is strong in dry mill, green mill, design, marketing and manufacturing. Combined, the merged company will be better able to make the most of all these strengths.
