Jonsereds Cutter for Planing of Wooden
Profiles
Precision Tool
Jonsereds cutters are precision tools with a long working life. The whole
length of the tip can be used and its profile remains the same after regrinding until the
cutter is worn out. Even composite cutters (with setting adjustment screws) do not
require any adjustment after re-grinding. This has been achieved by the development
of a special curve on the tooth back and helical side clearances. It is therefore
essential that the cutter is correctly used and maintained so that these excellent
characteristics will be maintained. Regular cleaning, grinding and honing will
increase the working lifetime of the cutter considerably, and maintain a high standard of
finish throughout the mill.

Brazed Tip
Cutters
 |
High Speed
Steel Tipped Cutters
These are often cheaper to buy, especially if the profile is complicated. However,
the shorter teeth give much fewer resharpenings and make them more suitable for another
production series.Tungsten Carbide Tipped
Cutters
These are more suitable for very dry timber, hardwood or very abrasive applications
such as rounding of edges. The carbide gives longer edge life than High Speed Steel.

Profile
Cutterheads and Knives

|
Both types of
cutter head are available with or without integral hydraulic self-centering sleeves. Waco - Jonsereds V-Grooved Back Type
The knives in these cutterheads have a single large v-groove in the back. The
face projects forward, giving a thick knife designed for easy sharpening by face grinding.
The profile is made when the knife is supplied by the customer.
Serrated Back Knife Type
These profile cutterheads can be supplied with either HSS or carbide tipped serrated
back knives. The knives have to be sharpened on the backs, i.e. in a profile
grinder.

Planer Heads
and Thin Knives

|
Planer heads with
4 to 16 knives, with or without integral hydraulic sleeves. For higher feed speeds
and finish quality, hydraulic sleeves should always be used. Thin planer knives are available in three different materials: normal quality,
high speed steel 2722 and carbide tipped. Carbide is recommended for longest
standing times and for more abrasive applications (e.g. glue lines). |
